Hiraman Urweti was born in 1980 in Sonpuri, Madhya Pradesh. He has been practicing Gond art for over two decades. Urweti started working at a young age when he was forced to drop out of high school because his family could not support him. Despite his difficulties, Urweti worked and learned the Gond art under the tutelage of grandmaster Jangarh Singh Shyam. All his works are painted on paper or canvas with acrylic paint.
The artist tries to revive the tradition of this art and regularly conducts workshops and training sessions for adults and children. He was commissioned to produce several murals for schools and offices.
